MARICOPA COUNTY EVENTS

Phoenix: Mon. Aug. 18 – Natural Disasters: Why Do They Happen? Natural disasters have the capacity to take many lives, destroy property, and cause extreme suffering. No single events, other than wars, can cause so much destruction. Why do natural disasters occur? And, why would a loving God allow the pain, death and suffering associated with natural disasters? These are questions asked by Christians and skeptics alike. The answers are found in the Bible, particularly in the Book of Genesis. (Jim Clarke, BS, Geology, MS, Hydrological Engineering, AzOSA Resident Geologist)

All Maricopa (Phoenix Area events)

Tempe: Tues., Aug. 19 – Natural Disasters: Why Do They Happen? Jim Clarke’s clear presentation, suitable for all thinking persons, is repeated in person at this convenient East Valley location.

PIMA COUNTY EVENT

Tucson: Thurs., Aug 21 –  Natural Disasters: Why Do They Happen?  Residents of Tucson and surrounding areas can enjoy Jim Clarke’s vital insights and information repeated locally in person for impact and convenience.

All Pima County (Tucson Area) Events

GILA COUNTY EVENT

Payson: Tuesday, Aug 26 – Biogenesis or Directed Transpermia?  Honestly, why have so many scientists opted to believe that life on Earth was seeded by alien space creatures?
Why do others believe that “single cell and simple life forms can evolve into whales, elephants, and humans — they just need ‘enough time'”? Bring the family, see fascinating fun facts that fracture the fairy tales of both “life from outer space” and evolution!

YAVAPAI COUNTY SPECIAL EVENT

Prescott: Saturday, Aug 16 – Yavapai Summer Seminar (starts at 9:00 a.m.). Three key presentations suitable for new and long-time Christians and others who have questions.

►Why the Earth Is Young
Consider these facts: Carbon-14 is found in coal and diamonds, the Earth’s magnetic field is weakening, and the human genome is decaying. Consider these ideas: Bible scriptures define the word “day” in Genesis Chapter 1, a global Genesis Flood would be leave evidence regarding the Earth’s true age, and there are religious and worldview consequences resulting when “old Earth” ideas clash with Scriptural teachings. See how these things ultimately do fit together. (Joseph Kezele, M.D., President, AzOSA)
►The Roots and Fruits of Darwin’s Evolutionary Tree
Evolution-based thinking in western society has hugely impacted Christian evangelism. There exists a stark worldview divide between those who believe the Bible account in Genesis and those who cling to millions of years and molecules-to-man evolution. How can we observe these conflicting forces and learn more? Get the essentials in this hour. (Michael Calcagno, Vice President, AzOSA Gila Division)
►Who Were the Ape-men?
Thoughtful people want to know: Are we descended from Ape-men? Contrasting the Biblical account of mankind’s origins with the evolutionary starting assumptions, Dr. Kezele compares various anatomical features of man, simians and the fossils. Which view of origins is best supported by evidence? There are three ways to make an Ape-man … and it turns out the biological evidence dismantles our supposed ancestral family tree. Much food for thought here. (Joseph Kezele, M.D., President, AzOSA)

Third Annual Creation Science Grand Canyon Adventure For Clergy and Teachers

AzOSA is sponsoring its third free creation science bus trip to the Grand Canyon on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Led again by Russ Miller, the one-day trip features transportation in
a luxury bus with pick-ups in north Phoenix, Camp Verde, and Flagstaff. Instruction and conversations take place on and off the bus, and the trip includes lunch, snacks and bottled water. This free offer is extended to those in any kind of Christian ministry, to biology teachers, and to spouses. What you learn on this trip will astound you – guaranteed! Christian leaders and educators gain information and fellowship with colleagues and develop networking opportunities as well. Don’t delay in making reservations, as this trip typically fills up by the end of August. Phone David McNabb at (928) 771-1218 with questions or for reservations. (For those coming from southern Arizona, we are arranging overnight lodging in a Phoenix home the night before.)

Praise Report: Individual donors have already funded this bus trip, so the clergy and teachers can receive this incredible opportunity. Philippians 4:19.

Still Needed: Hosts in Phoenix for a Pastor For One Night in September

Pastors from southern Arizona desiring to experience the Pastor and Church Leaders Grand Canyon Bus Tour could really benefit from getting to the Phoenix area the night before their early morning departure. Is there room in your inn? If you can help with a spare bedroom for a pastor and possibly a spouse, on the evening of Monday, September 22, please let us know by clicking here. It costs so little and helps so much!

UPDATE for Pastors and Church Leaders in Tucson. There will be provided free transportation for you (and spouse) from Tucson to Phoenix the evening before the bus tour. Just click here to let us know your needs!

Needed: One Used Laptop

A student at Arizona Christian University (ACU) seriously needs but cannot afford a laptop for classwork in the Apologetics course. Can you lend or donate one? Best if it had PowerPoint and Photoshop already loaded on it, but let us know either way by clicking here.

Origin Science on the Radio in Arizona!

To get the truth about the origins of the Universe, of the Earth, of Life and of Mankind out to the general public, veteran speaker Sal Giardina is developing a radio program to air on 50,000 watt KFNX. AzOSA is supporting that project financially, and when it airs, AzOSA speakers will be welcome to extend the message all over the state and streaming over the Internet. Click here to learn more and to contribute to AzOSA’s matching fund challenge. Maximize your impact for the Truth!

Did You Peek?

Last month maybe you peeked at this entry in the Newsletter. This time you’re reading it. And now may be the time to step forward in faith to channel a few hours each month to multiply the outreach of the Truth to mankind. Without you, AzOSA and its many activities and outreaches just cannot happen. Ready to multiply your effectiveness? Consider helping as:

► Church Survey Assistant – using simple direct mail techniques, help this ongoing original research project obtain and organize data to understand origin science’s challenges in some churches and how to overcome them. Contact Ed Zimmer at survey@azosa.org.

► Bookstore Assistant – Straightforward but vital to our mission. Help maintain the stock for the AzOSA stores, using the systems already in place. AzOSA can thrive only by delivering the materials people need to make the scientific case for Creation. You can directly contribute to everyone’s success. Become the Origin Scientist You Want to Be

Imagine – plan – execute – triumph! That’s how big life moves occur. Imagine sitting comfortably in your home, partaking in an immense education in origin science. Your text would be In the Beginning: Compelling Evidence for Creation and the Flood (9th ed. 2014). Your professor would be the book’s author, Walter Brown, Ph.D., who earned his doctorate in mechanical engineering from MIT and is a National Science Foundation Fellow.

Take the plunge and get this result: a logical, scientific, serious, no-nonsense grasp of creation science concepts covering the life sciences, Earth sciences, physical sciences, and astronomical sciences.

Two options are being discussed: (1) an actual class of motivated students, participating either in person or possibly via PC audio or videoconferencing; (2) a self-study plan with periodic personal or in-person meetings with Dr. Brown for in depth discussion and Q&A.

Click here to see the full text of the previous (8th) edition of In the Beginning. To ask questions or participate, please contact Larry Kisner via this email  If enough people show interest, one or both programs can begin.

Unsure of your science background? There will be tutors to help. Studying Dr. Brown’s book and getting this education can change your life. Contact us now and discuss the options.
