Summary:
Obtaining ancient DNA from “prehistoric” creatures sounds like a thing out of Jurassic Park. Indeed, this is considered an unrealistic prospect by most scientists because dinosaurs are believed to have died out 66 million years ago—DNA could not survive that long—case closed. Or is it? From a biblical perspective, most dinosaurs would have died during the flood of Noah’s day merely ~4500 years ago. Therefore, while dinosaur DNA is considered “out of reach” by most secular scientists, as biblical creationists we predict that it does exist in the fossilized remains buried during the Flood. Although simple in principle, sequencing dinosaur DNA will be a lengthy project with many obstacles. This presentation highlights the progress that we and other researchers have made towards identifying Bonafide dinosaur DNA. Sequencing the first dinosaur DNA would be an exciting, ground-breaking discovery with far-reaching implications for the natural history of dinosaurs.

Growing up, I experienced two very different worlds. As a pastor’s child, I was exposed to a Biblical understanding of the world and chose to serve and follow Christ from a young age. However, my love for science took me into secular academia where I spent 10 years rubbing shoulders with a different perspective of the world. As a Christian, the conflict between these two worldviews continues to fascinate me. I now live in St. Louis, MO, with my wife and 7 children where I teach high school science in the public school and manage an outdoor education facility known as Little Creek Nature Area. I’ve spoken 60+ times on the topics of creation, evolution, science and the Bible in order to challenge believers to think and thinkers to believe.
