Summary:
Biblical genealogy is a subject many people avoid, but it is also a subject skeptics use to attack the Bible. For example, they claim that Moses’ family tree is too short for the time the Hebrews were in Egypt and David’s family tree is too short for the period of the Judges. They also claim that the existence of two different genealogies of Jesus in the New Testament invalidates biblical inspiration. Each of their objections, however, has a valid and simple answer. The solutions are
elegant and faith-affirming. In fact, the names in Matthew 1 might not even be a genealogy. Instead, they could be a list of the rightful kings of Judah, meaning Jesus was the heir of David in more ways than one. In this presentation, Dr Carter will help you understand what biblical genealogy is, why it is important, and how it affects our understanding of both the age of the earth and the Gospel.
