Summary:
In Noah’s day, the world experienced a deluge of water. In our day, we experience a deluge of cicadas. In this bug-centric session, we will explore the amazing biology of cicadas, some of God’s noisiest creatures. Periodically, trillions of these insects emerge from their underground homes to make their presence known. While we ponder how to survive this flood of cicadas, it brings to mind an even bigger question: how did cicadas (and other creepy crawlies) survive the flood of Noah’s day?
Presenter: Joel Brown
Growing up, I experienced two very different worlds. As a pastor’s child, I was exposed to a Biblical understanding of the world and chose to serve and follow Christ from a young age. However, my love for science took me into secular academia where I spent 10 years rubbing shoulders with a different perspective of the world. As a Christian, the conflict between these two worldviews continues to fascinate me. I now live in St. Louis, MO, with my wife and 7 children where I teach high school science in the public school and manage an outdoor education facility known as Little Creek Nature Area. I’ve spoken 60+ times on the topics of creation, evolution, science and the Bible in order to challenge believers to think and thinkers to believe.
