October: Warm Autumn Weather Quickens Minds in Arizona

It may be a cooler Fall somewhere, but Arizonans are still wearing shorts and t-shirts to AzOSA mind-expanding events. Pick an event, get a new resource, work on a fulfilling project. Don’t forget to friend us at Facebook, too.

In this newsletter:

● Church Leader Trip for Truth – Success and Thanks!

AZOSA on FaceBook – Friend Us and Let Everyone Know!

● Four Locations – Doubts Resolved: The Universe Questions are Answered!

Grand Canyon Trip is Booked – Thanks to All!

Many thanks go to all of the AzOSA people who invited church leaders to the October 23 Grand Canyon bus trip to be led by Russ Miller of Creation, Evolution and Science Ministries. Congratulations also to the church leaders who are broadening and deeping their knowledge for the benefit of their congregations.

For attendees’ convenience, here is the bus schedule:

Depart from Phoenix (Anthem Outlet shops – westside lot): 6:45 AM
Camp Verde (Burger King lot): 7:50 AM 7:10 PM
Flagstaff (Sizzler/Del Taco lot): 8:55 AM 5:45 PM
Return to Phoenix:  8:05 PM

AzOSA volunteers have made this terrific event possible.  Russ Miller will certainly charge the attendees’ mental batteries with the information they need, and the trip itself should be a great getaway opportunity for fellowship. Praises to the Creator and to all involved!

Pima County Events

Oct 18 – 7:00 PM – Tucson: The Universe in Near Real Time. You know this issue divides the faith community – but why? Get answers to the tough questions: (1) Is the universe young or old? (2) Can we see light from deep space given only 6,000 years for it to travel? (3) Do other creation starlight and time models offer better explanations? (4) Does Scripture offer useful guidance that stands the tests of science? Steve Miller, B.A., Philosophy and Apologetics, Former President Calumet Astronomical Society, harmonizes scientific theories with Biblical revelation. A must-see for any Christian; skeptics and seekers are welcome, too!    Click for more details about all presentations at the Pima County Events Page.

Maricopa County Events

Oct 15 – 7:00 PM – Phoenix: The Universe in Near Real Time. A must-see for any Christian; skeptics and seekers are welcome, too!

Oct 16 – 7:00 PM – Tempe: Evidence for a Young Solar System. Are we talking about thousands of years or billions of years? More than a scientific factoid, the age of the solar system affects how we view and interpret Biblical history. Steve Miller (credentials above) presents what science observes about (1) planetary magnetic fields, (2) comets’ size, composition and travel, (3) galaxy clusters, and (4) the “galaxy winding problem.” Intrigued? Test the Truth in Tempe this Tuesday!

Oct 17 – 7:00 PM – Arizona Christian University (Phoenix): Conflict of World Views & The Universe in Real Time. The academic environment should welcome free speech and well-grounded challenges to orthodoxy, so Steve Miller (credentials above) opens up topics sure to spark campus conversations for weeks to come. Starting with the fundamentals, Mr. Miller overviews the conflicting world views about science, and asks astonishingly: “Can science prove anything?” He then takes on difficult creation vs. materialism questions, such as determining the age of the Universe, whether the speed of light is a true constant, and how supernovas fit the model of a young Universe. You don’t need to be a science major to find this discussion captivating! Faculty, students, and public visitors welcome!
