***Jordan Renouard Shares His Story:

Jordan Renouard is a meat inspector for the department of agriculture with a Master’s in microbiology and helps with AzOSA’s selling of books. Renouard grew up in a Christian home, and through his high school years, he was drawn to the subjects of science and microbiology. After graduating high school, he moved away from home to New Mexico State University. However, while being taken to church and going through science classes, Renouard was taught two separate worldviews: Creationism and Evolutionism.

Renouard never stopped being a Christian, but one thing he noticed is that as he got further in his college and Master’s level studies, his church time started to dwindle. At this point, Renouard considered himself to be a Theistic Evolutionist, but he took the existence of God and the theory of evolution as facts without knowing why he believed either of those things in the first place.

Eventually, he came across a book called Darwin’s Black Box (1996), a book that challenges the biomechanical possibility of evolution, and got Renouard thinking about why he takes the belief as fact. One of the main arguments that Renouard found in it was the fact that if an organism evolves new “functions” so the organisms can survive, those functions should not be able to keep an “out of date” organism from dying. It would be similar to using a mouse trap as a door stop, it may be used as a door stop, but the initial design of the mouse trap is not being used. 90 percent of its core function is not being utilized, so a mouse trap couldn’t survive as a door stop because that function alone would not keep the mouse trap “alive.”

From there, Renouard slowly consumed more resources that seemed to prove evolution was false and the creation story factual. As he continued to read such resources, he encountered more and more people who strengthened his faith in God and became convinced that evolution was nothing more than a decorative but poor theory for life’s beginning. Renouard looks back at his experience as an eye-opener in how necessary it is in life to understand the micro likeness of creation and the gaping holes in evolutionary theory.

Personally, Renouard believes there should be more Christians with a basic comprehension of life on a microscopic level, as most people seem to think it’s too hard of a subject to learn when in reality, the basics of the subject are quite easy to comprehend. He sees his testimony as a prime example of asking the right questions and getting rewarded for asking them. That the church should actually be the prime place for discussion of evolution and creation openly, and that “Parents should talk to their kids without fear about what’s in the Bible.”

**Is Genesis Relevant in America Today?

December 10 @ 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Payson Seventh Day Adventist Church, 700 E Wade Ln, Payson AZ 85541-5158

*Summary:

America was founded on the principle of Christian thought and practice, including a belief in the Genesis account of Creation. This summary reviews how the doctrine of evolution has come to replace this belief, and how a Christian can respond to it. As well as looking closely at the account of Creation, discussing what “days” mean in the passage, and its relevance to us today.

Presenter: Dr. Joseph Kezele
